Nicky Hayden is looking to get his Ducati motorcycle leathers on the MotoGP podium a lot more often in 2011, according to reports.

Since winning the riders' title for Honda in 2006, Hayden has struggled to regularly compete at the front of the grid.

A move to the Ducati team initially offered little improvement, but the latter half of the 2010 season saw Hayden get more confidence in his Ohlins forks and the balance of his bike, resulting in some podium places.

Now Hayden is looking to finish in the top three more often, hopefully picking up the odd race win.

"My aim was to be more in the top five last year and I achieved that. I went from 13th to 7th in the points and I know I won't make that step but I believe I can make another step," he told the Motorcycle News.

Hayden will be joined by a new teammate this year, in the shape of nine-time Champion Valentino Rossi, who has left Yamaha after seven years.
