While the MotoGP riders hang up their motorcycle clothing and take a well-earned rest from racing until February, the MotoGP teams continue to work on their machines.

Honda has been back on track this week, testing its new factory bike in Sepang, Malaysia, with World Superbike Championship star Jonathan Rea putting on his motorcycle clothing to complete some laps, the MotoGP website reports.

The teams tested out the new engine, chassis, and the Ohlins suspension systems put in place for 2011.

As for Rea, it was his first experience of a MotoGP bike, and he was impressed by its power despite the engine only having an 800cc capacity.

"Today I had great fun learning a MotoGP bike and the Sepang circuit is impressive! My body is still not 100 per cent and this is a pity, but I had a very good day with the HRC test team," he told the website.

The factory bike will be used by four Honda riders next season, with the Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso taking it for the Repsol squad, while Marco Simoncelli will ride one for Gresini.
