Italian MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli was pleased with the outcome of the official testing session at Estoril and the performance of his Ohlins forks.

The San Carlo Honda Gresini rider was testing new Ohlins race products during the session, in a bid to improve an already competitive bike.

Despite riding for the satellite Honda team, Simoncelli is using a bike that is basically the same as the Repsol factory squad machines ridden by Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso.

The early races have been positive, with Simoncelli showing strong pace, but unfortunately his mistakes have resulted in him crashing out of the last two rounds.

However, the rider is confident that after testing the new Ohlins forks he will be able to continue to compete for podium places when MotoGP heads to France this month.

"We did a good job working on the forks and trying the new 2012 version Bridgestone tyres as well as a few other things. It was a positive day," he said.
