Ducati rider Valentino Rossi says that changing the set-up of his Ohlins race products may have cost him the chance of a podium place in Barcelona.

Rossi finished fifth in the race, as despite trailing Andrea Dovizioso and Ben Spies closely for many laps, he was unable to attack.

After the race, the nine-time champion explained that he changed the set-up of his bike and its Ohlins race products for the wet practice sessions, but it did not work so well in the dry race, affording him less grip on corner entry.

However, overall Rossi is happy that his Desmosedici machine is closer to matching the pace of the front runners.

He said: "We're not too far off, and we're working well, which we need to continue doing.

"The championship is long and we're still fully focused on both the GP11 and 2012, and we have no intention of backing off."

Rossi's teammate Nicky Hayden could only finish eighth, but was also pleased that his bike is improving.
